Of course, heat is not good for the hair, but if you can't live without it, this is a good replacement for your old hair straightener. the straightener has 1 on and off button and therefore no heat settings. in the part where the straightener heats up, there are several sensors that measure the strength (porosity) of your hair every second at which it adjusts the temperature. the style and curling irons do NOT get warmer than 180 degrees.. so if you have hair that is very porous, the temperature will automatically go lower than on healthy and untreated hair.. the Chronos (this one) is a a bit more expensive than GHD's platinum styler, this is because the Chronos has more sensors in the straightener than the platinum, it takes with the platinum so a little longer to adjust to your right temperature for your hair.
