Oat Cleansing Balm

This is a great cleanser for the price and amount you get. I have dry skin and usually have to leave it on for a few minutes (and often prefer to leave it on longer as a mask) but then when washing away and using second (hydrating) cleanser my skin feels pretty soft and supple. I’ve not noticed it do anything dramatic to improve my skin but it serves its purpose and keeps it steady so I can be free to experiment with other actives later in my routine. My complaints however would be first that if any water gets in it the consistency becomes almost like a white foam which is harder to manage and often you need to really shake it to ensure that the oil and ‘balm’ parts don’t separate when coming out. My biggest issue though is that for contact wearers this is a NIGHTMARE when it gets in your eyes (which for me as a waterproof mascara wearer is every time), as while it doesn’t hurt or sting, the product gets on top of your contacts and leaves a film over them so that you can’t see anything and it’s impossible to remove! I definitely wouldn’t use it around the eye area with a fresh pair in ! However it does do a very good job at removing waterproof mascara quickly if left on for a couple minutes so for that is worth it.

So, I have a very mixed feeling about this product. I love the texture on application and the fact it’s fragrance free. It also removes makeup perfectly and sometimes I wouldn’t even go with a second cleanse when I have been wearing only mascara. However when I want to wash it off it’s just feels I can’t remove it fully, it creates a film over my skin and only with a second cleanser I can remove it more or less. I think it’s not too bad for the skin if it stays On as it feels very nourishing but it’s a bit annoying.

This is amazing as a first cleansing oil step, removes all my makeup easily! Smells nice too. Just.. the product is amazingly difficult to get out of the tube. From day 1 I had to squeeze the heck out of the tube to get any product out. Could be because it’s still cold here, but different packaging would make this a 5 star
